Marking and Grading

You will be marked on 17 areas of competence that are grouped into 3 categories:

  • lesson planning
  • risk management
  • teaching and learning strategies.

The 17 areas of competence are listed in the ADI part 3 test report reform, which the examiner will fill in at the end of your test.

You will get a score from 0 to 3 for each of the 17 competencies, which are added up to work out if you have passed the test.

Test Result

  • The examiner will discuss your performance and result after you have given the lesson.

0-30:  FAIL

31-42: Pass (Grade B)

43-51: Pass (Grade A)

  • Any score of 7 or less in the ‘risk management’ category means you’ll automatically fail.

  • You can apply for your first ADI badge after passing the ADI part 3 test.
